Setting Up Your Paper Plate Craft Station

Here is the practical side of running a paper plate craft station that makes everything go smoothly for both kids and adults.

Cover your craft table with a disposable tablecloth before setting anything out. Paper plate crafts involve a lot of paint and glue and protecting your table surface saves a significant amount of cleanup time afterward.

Set out three or four crafts at a time rather than all 20 at once. Too many options overwhelm kids and create unnecessary mess. Rotate new crafts onto the table every 30 to 40 minutes to keep things fresh and exciting throughout the day.

Keep wet wipes at the craft table at all times. Paint covered hands on furniture and clothing is a real party hazard that wet wipes handle immediately before it becomes a bigger problem.

Set up a dedicated drying area near the craft table where finished plates can sit safely without being disturbed. A clothesline with wooden pegs works perfectly for hanging painted plates while they dry.

Label each finished craft with the child’s name using a permanent marker on the back before it goes to the drying area. This prevents the inevitable arguments about whose creation belongs to whom at the end of the party.

And while the kids are busy creating their masterpieces make sure the adults have something equally fun to do by checking out our post on How to Throw a Fourth of July Party on a Budget and planning an incredible celebration that keeps everyone happy from morning till the fireworks light up the sky.

Now go grab those paper plates and get crafting!
